In a stinker, Mickey Bey (21-1-1, 10 KOs) won a split decision over IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez (34-4, 13 KOs) in an uneventful twelve rounder. It was a highly technical affair as everyone expected. Scores were 115-113 and an astonishing 119-109 (judge Robert Hoyle) for local fighter Bey, 115-113 for Vazquez.

Santa Cruz demolishes Roman
WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16 KOs) scored an easy second round KO over former sparring partner Manuel Roman (17-3-3, 6 KOs). A straight right laid out Roman. Time was :55. Santa Cruz was a 50:1 favorite for a reason as this was a mismatch.

WBC/WBA welterweight and WBC/WBA super welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs) schooled Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) over twelve rounds in their rematch on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Mayweather opened the fight moving and staying out of range as he picked apart Maidana. The challenger connected on few occasions. Mayweather outboxed Maidana in round two. Floyd dominated round three, but he buckled slightly after a hard right hand from Maidana at the end of round three. Maidana came out aggressively in round four and pressured Mayweather on the ropes, finally getting into the fight. Maidana took his foot off the gas in round five allowing Floyd to keep his distance. In round eight Mayweather complained that Maidana bit his hand, but Bayless stated he sees no evidence of it and the bout continued. Maidana went to the wrong corner after round nine. Maidana was deducted a point for pushing in round ten. Floyd pot-shotted Maidana all through round eleven. Mayweather stayed out of range in the twelfth to the dismay of Maidana and the crowd. Scores were 115-112, 116-111, 116-111.
