In a clash for the absolute WBA featherweight title, WBA regular featherweight champion Nicholas Walters (25-0, 21 KOs) scored a spectacular sixth round KO over WBA super featherweight champion Nonito Filipino Flash Donaire (33-3, 21 KOs) on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. In an intense fight, Walters dropped Donaire with an uppercut in round three. Donaires face was increasingly busted up Walters dropped Donaire face first with a right hand at the close of round six. Time was 2:59.
WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady GGG Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) added the WBC Interim middleweight belt to his collection with a second round annihilation of Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) on Saturday night before a huge crowd of 9,323 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Rubio bulked up to 181 while GGG entered the ring at 173. Both fighters landed hard shots in round one. Glolovkin laid out Rubio with a left hand in round two. Time was 1:19.
